Nuclear Engineer Salaries In USA

This is one field of Engineering which everyone thinks has no scope but it is actually the field which might produce the maximum number of jobs in future. The average age of engineers in the field of nuclear engineering is already 50-55 and are at the verge of retirement. In fact, universities have increased their intake in the field of nuclear engineering by almost 4 times. Optimism is especially high at North Carolina state University, where nuclear engineering students hone their skills on a small nuclear reactor on campus and gain experience during paid summer internships at Progress Energy and Duke Energy nuclear plants. By the time they graduate, the students select from an average of 3.5 job offers in a field where median salaries can reach upto US $92,000 a year (Of course after gaining some Experience).

The companies are offering the jobs to be started around Christmas, in April-may itself. Well, i haven't the stated the best part as yet; the best part is that you do not have to be nuclear engineering graduate to start your career in the field of nuclear engineering, moreover, you can do masters from most of the universities in US even if your major in undergrad was something else like Physics or electrical engineering (as long as it is related to some science field). If you want to start a career in this field you can see this link for types of jobs in nuclear engineering. Also check out this link for sample job and salaries.
Before i give the actual numbers here is a brief description about the actual job of a nuclear engineer. A Nuclear Engineer designs and initiates processes to gain benefit from nuclear energy and radiation. Conducts research into problems of nuclear energy systems. Designs and develops nuclear equipment. He or she also Monitors testing, operation, and maintenance of nuclear reactors. May require a bachelor's degree in engineering and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
