Engineering Salaries In AUSTRALIA

Graduate Interior Design
:(no experience) Aus$ 35k-40k (The exact number varies with city; for example in Melbourne(Victoria) the salary is more than in Sydney(New South Wales).

Landscape Architect : Aus$45k-85k

Graduate/Junior Design engineer(building and construction services)
Aus$50k-70k

Civil/Structural Engineer : Aus$55k-120k (Sydney can prove better in this case)

Software Engineer (i)Programmer : Aus$50k-75k (ii) Junior level tester $40k-60k.

For example if you are Project manager there is a different salary range than if you are a project engineer in construction field. In the field of Software engineering a test analyst or test lead can see different salary ranges. Above numbers are approximate and can vary a little depending on experience and location as mentioned above.

Other highlights of the 2007 Survey of large companies include

  • The highest annual salary movement by job level, was recorded for Senior Executives (5.1 per cent) while Salaried Staff had the lowest average salary rise (4.2 per cent). According to forecasts, Senior Executives will continue to receive the highest pay rises in the year ahead at 5.0 per cent, while Professional/Technical and Salaried Staff will have the lowest increases at 4.3 per cent and 4.4 per cent, respectively
  • On an industry-basis, the lowest salary increases were recorded for the Electronics/IT industry (3.2 per cent) followed by Retail (3.6 per cent) and manufacturing/Food/Beverage/Tobacco (4.0 per cent) with the latter suffering the largest decline of all, down 1.1 per cent from the previous year. Forecasts for 2007/2008 again record the lowest rises for the Electronic/IT industry (3.2 per cent), followed by Agriculture/Forestry/Fishing/Farming (3.3 per cent). Industries recording the highest forecast rises for 2007/2008 are Mining/Quarrying (6.2 per cent), Business/Professional Services (5.7 per cent) and Construction/Engineering (5.5 per cent)
  • By job family, the highest salary increase was recorded for General Management positions (4.8 per cent) and the lowest, for the Manufacturing/Supply/Distribution and Administration job families, at 4.1 per cent. The greatest improvement in forecast salary movements since those reported in last year's survey are for the Human Resources, Information Technology and Manufacturing/Supply/Distribution job families – all 0.4 per cent higher than previous year's forecasts
  • New South Wales/Australian Capital Territory recorded the lowest salary rise of 4.1 per cent, followed by South Australia/Northern Territory (4.3 per cent), Victoria/Tasmania (4.6 per cent) and Queensland (5.1 per cent). Western Australia (WA) registered the highest salary rise of 6.8 per cent. Salary forecasts for the year ahead predict the highest rises for QLD (5.7 per cent), followed by WA (5.3 per cent), VIC/TAS (4.5 per cent), SA/NT (4.3 per cent) and NSW/ACT (4.2 per cent).
